The Opportunity

At Bluewater, we have an exciting opportunity for a newly-qualified/part-qualified accountant to join our dynamic outsourcing team. In this role, you’ll deliver end-to-end financial support for a portfolio of clients in the property and construction sectors.

As part of our dedicated outsourcing team (Virtual Finance Office), you’ll play a key role in providing high-quality finance accounting support and management insights to your portfolio of clients. This position offers the chance to leverage the latest accounting technology, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional value to our clients.

Your Role:

  • Supporting the client transition and transformation journey into Bluewater
  • Setting up client Finance Systems (Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax)
  • Improve and streamline processes for new clients to best in practice, leveraging technology where possible
  • Supporting the design of client management information and reporting
  • Developing client process manuals
  • Coaching and supporting junior team members
  • Performing month-end close activities and preparing monthly working papers e.g. reconciliations, vat returns, prepayments/accruals & journals
  • Preparing management commentaries
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT returns
  • Reviewing annual statutory accounts and corporation tax
  • Investigating and responding to technical accounting queries
  • Primary relationship owner for less complex clients
  • Performing ad hoc requests and non-routine questions from clients.

About You:

  • ACA part-qualified/Newly qualified
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in small to mid-sized practices or relevant industry experience
  • Good experience and working knowledge of bookkeeping and management accounts
  • An enjoyment of working for different clients whilst understanding their individual needs
  • Experience in coaching junior members of the team
  • Experience in managing smaller clients
  • Strong computer skills, with particular experience in Excel
  • Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage One/Live)
