Job Details
Kickstart your career with Corrigan, a growing independent accountancy practice based in the heart of Bristol. We work with some of the most exciting businesses and entrepreneurs from Bristol’s thriving tech cluster, as well as larger corporate clients, charities, and other not-for-profit organisations. If you're energetic, eager to learn, and ready to make an impact, we want you to be part of our team!
Why Corrigan?
We’re different to larger accountancy firms. We moved into a new office in 2022, and our culture is all about collaboration and delivering great results for our clients. Our team is the key to our success, and we’re excited to offer amazing opportunities for graduates to join us in our Audit, Accounting, and Tax teams. Future growth will offer great opportunities for personal and professional development.
What You’ll Do
At Corrigan, you’ll dive into real-world projects within your first few months. Depending on your team, you’ll experience:
- Accounting & Financial Reporting: Work on preparing year-end financial statements for a diverse range of clients, using leading software platforms (don’t worry, we’ll train you!).
- Audit & Assurance: Get hands-on with audits and assurance work, often at client sites, where you’ll learn the ins and outs of different industries.
- Tax: Help prepare corporate and personal tax returns, and use your skills to solve complex tax challenges for our varied client base.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re after ambitious, self-motivated grads who are excited to learn and grow. While our team will support you every step of the way, you’ll also need to bring curiosity, drive, and a positive attitude.
What You’ll Need:
- 112 UCAS points
- 2:1 degree (any discipline) or AAT qualification
- Solid IT skills, especially in Excel
- Great communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
- The ability to adapt and prioritise when things get busy
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (with regular reviews)
- Full support to study for the ICAEW ACA qualification (we cover tuition, exam fees, study leave, and materials)
- 20 days holiday + bank holidays (with the option to buy 5 more)
- Pension plan and private healthcare
- Flexible working arrangements
- A brand-new, modern office in central Bristol (with secure bike storage, showers, and a cycle-to-work scheme)
- Opportunities for volunteering during work hours
- Fun, regular social events
How to Apply
Here’s how the process works:
- Submit your application: Send your CV via ICAEW.
- Online test: If you’re shortlisted, we’ll send you a 20-minute test to assess your numerical and verbal reasoning. No prep needed—we’ll provide all the instructions!
- 1st stage interview: If you pass the test, you’ll have an online interview with one of our accountants. We’ll chat about your application, why you’re excited about the role, and give you a chance to ask us any questions.
- Final interview: If all goes well, you’ll be invited to our Bristol office to meet with two Corrigan managers or partners. Got scheduling conflicts? Let us know early, and we’ll do our best to work around your commitments.
We aim to get back to candidates within a week of the final interview. We run our apprenticeship programme in January, May, and September, but we’d love for you to start about a month earlier to get settled before diving into your studies. Unfortunately, we’re not able to sponsor visas for this role, so you’ll need to have permanent right to work in the UK.
If you don’t hear back from us within a month, we won’t be moving forward with your application—but we’re grateful for your interest!
