The Role


This is a trainee position which includes full training and support to develop your skills and abilities for a long-term career within our accountancy practice. During your training period, you will do a mixture of book-keeping up to accounts preparation and taxation tasks, with some opportunity to be involved with audit. Your key responsibilities will include:

Building productive working relationships within the two offices and with clients as required

Developing and applying your technical knowledge through on the job training and formal qualifications

Using accounting software and excel to provide accurate reporting for Managers, Partners and clients

Producing profit and loss accounts and balance sheets

Preparing basic tax computations and returns e.g. corporation tax

Preparing working papers including bank reconciliations, other reconciliations and manual control accounts

Helping to prepare statutory accounts and finalise accounts under the overall supervision of Accounts Managers

Assisting more senior members of staff on audit to include, for example, checking bank reconciliations, attending at stock takes, preparing profit and loss schedules and assisting with the audit of debtors and creditors.

What you will need to succeed

We would like to hear from you if you are a quick learner and can tick all of the below:

Educated to A-Level (or equivalent) or higher e.g. degree

If you are a school leaver – you must have a minimum of 3 A Levels at grades B, B, C

You must have GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 5 or above

Fluent in English (verbal and written) with strong communication skills

Strong IT skills, specifically Excel and able to pick up new IT packages very quickly

Exceptional attention to detail

A positive, confident and proactive attitude

Enjoy working as part of a team and self-motivated

Willingness to undertake and succeed in a range of professional studies

Relevant work experience and/or experience of working within a practice environment would be great but not essential
