Trainee Accountant - The Role

We are excited to offer a Trainee Accountant position for individuals passionate about starting a career in accountancy. This entry-level role is perfect for ambitious candidates who are eager to learn and develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

As a Trainee Accountant, you will be introduced to the basics of accounting and tax practices, working closely with your colleagues in a small team to gain hands-on experience. This role is designed to provide a solid foundation in accountancy, with structured learning and mentorship leading towards your ACA professional qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and Assist: Support with financial statement preparation and tax services while learning the fundamentals of accountancy and tax laws.
  • Client Interaction: Learn to assist clients, understanding the importance of quality service aligned with our firm’s excellence standards.
  • Professional Development: Progress your ACA training programme in a professional environment with support from qualified colleagues.
  • Operational Support: Maintain accounting records and perform bookkeeping tasks, helping you gain practical accounting experience.


  • Strong desire to pursue a career in accountancy and work towards professional qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn.
  • No previous accountancy experience required, but a basic understanding of accounting principles is advantageous.

We are a small accountancy practice established in 1992 to provide good quality, affordable accountancy services to SME businesses.

Based in the beautiful Somerset countryside in Somerton, we serve SME businesses throughout the UK with preparation of their annual accounts and tax returns, tax planning, commercial advice and assistance with growth by acquisition.
