Job Details

Citroen Wells is a 12 partner firm of Chartered Accountants, based in the West End of London. We are looking to recruit a number of graduates for our Summer 2023 intake who aspire to become Chartered Accountants for our trainee scheme. We have high standards, not only academically, but we want people with drive, ambition and, last but no means least, personality. The academic requirements are: a good level and spread of GCSEs including English and Mathematics, 120 UCAS points, together with the expectation of at least a 2.1 class honours degree.  Selection for interview is based on the completion of our online application assessments. Unfortunately we are unable to provide any form of visa sponsorship, so candidates must be a UK citizen or already possess a current UK Working Visa.

Signing up as a trainee accountant is a big commitment and we support our trainees as much as we can to help them with their studies. This includes paying for the costs of these studies and allowing paid for time away from the office for study. We also provide excellent on-the-job training and all of our trainees are given a wide range of work to enable them to learn and develop. It is our belief that each trainee has a chance of becoming a partner in this firm and we give them every opportunity to push themselves forward. And it does happen – five of our current partners trained with the firm.

Studying for the exams is managed by Mercia, on behalf of the firm, which ensures the best possible path through the training and examination process. External Tuition firms are used to provide the learning and final revision courses taken prior to each professional examination.

Every six months, your progress is formally monitored and reviewed by the firm’s training team. Your study records, both of work experience and examinations, will be discussed with you and targets set for the future. The variety and level of work provided by the firm is planned in conjunction with the progress made in academic studies and previous experience.

Our offices are based in the West End of London but you may spend part of your working time outside the office working at clients’ premises. Most of our clients are based within the Greater London area. A typical assignment might last a couple of weeks, some more, some less. You will start as an assistant member of a team of two to four people. As you gain experience and seniority, you will be given the opportunity to start leading audit teams and take on additional responsibilities. By the time you reach the end of your final year of training with us, you will have a well-rounded set of practical and personal skills and a clear idea of how you want your career to develop beyond your training contract.
