Can choose one of our offices

Join bennettbrooks Chartered Accountants’ graduate scheme as an associate and allow our study programme to offer you the support you need for the completion of your journey to become a Chartered Accountant via the ACA qualification.

Our ACA level 7 apprenticeship training scheme provides fantastic training and invaluable and extensive experience working either at our head office at Northwich or one of our many local offices with an opportunity to specialise in audit, or tax or general practice, working with a variety of businesses across a wide range of sectors.

Our graduate ACA programme fast tracks you to success, moving you from graduate to qualified Chartered Accountant in as little as three years. As an ACA accredited training firm, we are committed to giving our graduates first class training in a personal and friendly working environment. We offer a competitive starting salary, which increases regularly as you successfully complete each stage of the exam process. Newly qualified staff are then offered the opportunity to enrol with our Management Development programme.

From the start of your training contract, you will be working with clients, getting to know their business and understanding their challenges. You will be encouraged to take responsibility at the earliest opportunity and you will be exposed to all aspects of a client assignment.

From September 2023, we are launching our Graduate Academy which will involve registration, tuition and training with our preferred training provider, First Intuition, as well as in-house training at our head office in Northwich to equip you with the technical and professional skills to start your working life.

In addition to the knowledge gained internally from processing assignments in the office, you will be enrolled on a formal apprenticeship programme that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to excel in the role.

If you apply to join one of our local offices listed on our website, you will develop skills and technical knowledge on a wide range of matters such as accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, using an array of tools such as cloud bookkeeping packages and apps.  You will grow your general tax knowledge by working on VAT, personal tax and corporate tax assignments.

If you join the audit team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, ranging from a few days to a few weeks in length. Additionally, you’ll get hands-on experience using cutting-edge audit software with powerful data analytics capabilities to perform audits for both limited companies and charities.

Training

We will fund your study towards the ACA qualification, to include ICAEW registration fees, annual student membership subscriptions, tuition course and materials fees, exam fees for all exam first attempts and first resits. Once all exams have been successfully completed, and on becoming eligible to apply for full membership, we also fund the initial ICAEW admission fee and annual subscription charges.

You will receive a full study package to ensure that you successfully complete your professional qualification. This includes paid time off to attend tuition and revision courses with the Training Provider, and to sit the exams for all first attempts.

Your professional qualification is only part of the story at bennettbrooks: we support all our Graduates with a hybrid approach to training and development, including classroom study, on the job training for the software we use, 1:1 coaching, and soft skills training.

You will be supported by a student counsellor to keep your career and aspirations on track. You will also be allocated a buddy, who will support you to settle into the team and navigate your first year at bennettbrooks.

The people we are looking for will have:

  • Strong work ethic; the desire to get things done, and to learn and progress.  Great interpersonal skills; the ability to build client relationships with a foundation of trust and responsibility.  Analytical skills; the ability to accurately and diligently assimilate information, grasp concepts quickly, research and solve problems.  Some knowledge of Excel is essential.  Independence and initiative; the ability to think critically, challenge when appropriate, and to apply professional scepticism.  Attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).  Affinity with the bennettbrooks culture and values

Strong academic performance is an important indicator of success in completing the ACA exams; however, we understand that things don’t always go to plan. Our recruitment process looks at the individual academic achievements as well as other experiences in which you have grown and developed. We balance your academic results alongside the aptitude assessment within our recruitment process to ensure that you will be successful in your role with us.
