This position supports the Forensics group within the Risk, Forensics & Compliance practice (RF&C) - one of seven practices focused on client delivery services across the Firm.

Ankura is looking for candidates to join its fast-growing London RF&C practice.

Ankura’s RF&C practice provides clients with expertise with investigations, compliance & forensic accounting advisory which includes:

  • Investigations into bribery & corruption, regulatory violations, and complex fraud

  • Forensic accounting and financial reporting investigations including reconstruction of books and records

  • Investigations into reputationally damaging behavioural misconduct

  • Anti-bribery & corruption reviews and pre-acquisition anti-bribery and corruption due diligence

The ideal Associate candidate should have an interest in forensic accounting, investigations, auditing, and litigation consulting, as well as other related areas described above.

Responsibilities:

An Associate is a key member of the engagement team. As an Associate, you will become intimately familiar with your clients' big-picture objectives and challenges, as well as have a thorough understanding of the nuances associated with their financial books and records. You will work closely with all levels of our professionals – Senior Associates through to Senior Managing Director level – and gain first-hand experience in consulting and advisory services. You will be responsible for performing accounting-related analyses and conveying your results to internal project leads. Your tasks will range from the following:

  • Applying accounting, financial, and analytical skills to various client issues, such as, detailed analysis of transactional data, underlying books and records, and financial statements, tracing of flow of funds, calculations of damages in complex disputes, review of revenue recognition procedures, etc.

  • Assisting with designing and implementing analysis, investigation, and project specific workplans

  • Developing and performing analyses to assess complex fact patterns and preparing reports and schedules summarizing findings for review by senior colleagues and clients

  • Documenting and maintaining detailed workpaper records that reflect assumptions, information sources, methodologies and procedures underlying all analytical tasks

  • Performing day-to-day client engagement activities, including interaction with internal Ankura team members and other stakeholders involved in the engagement, developing productive working relationships with colleagues and clients

  • Contributing to the overall success of the firm by participating in pitches, proposals, internal and external networking events, marketing the firm externally to prospective clients, and corporate social responsibility events

Training Provided:

You will study towards the ICAEW (ACA), a highly regarded professional qualification in the industry over a period of circa 36 months. Training comprises a combination of study courses at a professional education provider, private study and the ICAEW exams. Alongside this, you will receive on the job training working on exciting client engagements. You will have paid study leave, all course and first attempt exam fees are paid for.

  • Year one - Start your professional exams and start your career journey at Ankura.

  • Year two - Complete your professional level exams and begin your advanced or expertise level exams.

  • Year three - Complete your advanced level exams, complete your practical work experience and apply for membership with the institute.

Requirements:

  • Have Graduated by 2023 with a 2.1 undergraduate degree or above. While we welcome applications with degrees from all backgrounds, applicants from Finance, Economics, Law, Languages, Business, Politics, History, and International Relations, or similarly analytical and/or research-oriented courses would be preferred

  • In addition to English, fluency in a second language such as French, Portuguese, or Spanish, among others would be very beneficial (although not formally required)

  • Applicants must be willing to work towards an ICAEW accounting qualification

  • Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively with colleagues in a flat structured and fast-paced environment

  • Applicants require strong verbal and written communication skills, must be highly analytic, displaying quantitative and qualitative skills. Moreover, a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary

  • Ability to adapt quickly in handling multiple, evolving tasks and/or engagements, and effectively re-prioritise deadlines in an ever-changing environment

  • Travel flexible, both nationally and internationally at short notice

  • A genuine interest in our investigative work and the broader industry and the curiosity and creativity to support with unravelling our client’s complex problems
