From our office

Wellden Turnbull is an independent firm of chartered accountants, chartered tax advisors and professional business advisors based in Esher, Surrey.

We are looking to recruit a trainee to join our busy tax department. We are able to offer talented individuals a wide range of experience and exposure across a diverse client base. Working in the tax department at Wellden Turnbull will mean you receive a variety of experience, within your chosen discipline. We offer a 4 year ACA/CTA apprenticeship training programme.

You will receive a combination of structured training and ad-hoc on the job learning. Structured training is provided by BPP, one of the most experienced professional training providers.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary alongside an excellent study and benefits package which includes paid study courses, exam fees and study leave for the first attempt. Salary increases will be based on exam and work performance. We also offer 20 days holiday, plus study leave.

A major benefit of training with a medium size firm, compared with a much larger firm, is the depth and variety of assignments you will be involved with.  You will have exposure to a wide range of assignments with clients of all sizes in various industry sectors.

You will also benefit from greater involvement and day to day interactions with the firm's partners, who will take a direct interest in your development and support you through your training.

Entry requirements and preferred skills

  • On track to obtain a 2:1 degree or above in any subject.
  • 120 UCAS points (new system) excluding General studies and AS levels.
  • GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Strong IT skills particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.

We are looking for trainees who possess good academic qualifications, but academic qualifications are only part of the skill set you require to become a successful accountant.

Accountancy is a people focused profession so you must be able to demonstrate you can communicate confidently with colleagues and clients. You will also need excellent team working skills and also the ability to work on your own using your initiative. Studying for professional exams whilst working full time requires motivation and hard work. You will need to be able to demonstrate you have self-motivation and ambition. We expect our prospective trainees to have researched the professional qualification they are interested in pursuing. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate the skills they have learned during holidays and weekend employment.

You must be eligible to work in the UK.

The role is located in Esher in Surrey.

If you meet these requirements and are looking for a challenging and rewarding career, please apply online today.
