Job Details

Are you in practice already but looking for a new challenge?  Maybe you’re in audit and are a bit bored?  Or are working in a practice that isn’t forward thinking or with no route to becoming a Partner?  Or perhaps you’re in a large, corporate practice and looking for something more flexible and in-touch with your clients?

We’re a professional, two partner firm of Chartered Accountants based between Southampton and Fareham, established for over 30 years.  We’ve a broad range of clients from personal tax through to multi-million turnover businesses including some charities and clubs.  We’re also authorised by ICAEW to conduct Probate work.

This is general practice work at its best.  The variety of work and interaction with clients ensures no two days are the same.  The role includes managing a portfolio of clients across a range of industries including dealing with client queries, statutory accounts, management accounts, tax returns (company and individual) as well as meeting potential clients, onboarding new clients and reviewing/overseeing the work of trainees/juniors.

As a senior, qualified individual in a small practice you will be exposed to all aspects of general practice including business development and practice management.  We are a practice with ambitions to grow as well as develop our staff and continue to provide excellent service to our clients.  You will work in a friendly and professional environment which is rewarding and continually develops the skills you’ll have acquired in your ACA journey to date.

The firm encourages most, but not all, clients to use Xero for their bookkeeping/accounts therefore knowledge of this is useful, but not essential.

The work is mostly office based but a number of our team can and do work remotely from time to time, providing some flexibility in the working week.

As a general practice our client base is very mixed providing all our staff with a varied and broad range of tasks to deal with each day.  Our authorisation as probate practitioners will also provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to advance their knowledge in this area with the potential to become qualified as a probate professional and undertake work in this area if this is of interest.

This role is ideal for an ACA looking for the next step on their career path and for someone with an appetite to become a Partner in a friendly, local general practice.  Coaching from our partners will be provided from the outset to help a transition and ensure our clients and staff have a seamless introduction to a new member of the team (we see ourselves as part of our clients team as well as our own team).

It is essential to have experience of client portfolio management and to have a flexible approach in everything you do.  At Parry Hancock we work as a team and the partners and senior staff are happy to roll their sleeves up if required.

Our clients are friendly but expect the very best from us.  We place great importance on keeping technically up to date and the firm provides CPD training and has access to a specialist tax technical team to support the Partners and staff.

The expectation is the successful candidate will work full time but the partners may consider a 4-day per week role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a general practice role that is varied and challenging but in a small, friendly professional firm.

Company

Keeping our clients happy for more than 30 years, we’re a small, friendly team headed up by two chartered accountants. Our office, which offers a very relaxing and informal atmosphere, is conveniently located within easy reach of both Southampton and Fareham.

Our mission statement best describes why we come to work each day:

  • To provide outstanding service and value for money for our clients, thereby giving our clients Peace of Mind so that they can get on with their lives and businesses free from worry about financial and business problems;
  • To ensure that every client and all people feel better after every contact with us;
  • To provide our Partners and staff with secure, well-paid jobs, working in a stimulating equal opportunities environment;
  • To be profitable to ensure our long-term growth and survival.
