Job Details

In a nutshell: You'll be stepping into a Trainee Accountant role with PKF Francis Clark where, over the next 3 years, you’ll be supported in becoming a brilliant Chartered Accountant. You will build your career within a collaborative culture where you feel you belong and can be yourself.

The team and what you’ll be doing

As a trainee accountant you will work in either our Audit or Business Services teams or maybe a mix of both.

Our audit teams typically work in a team at a client’s premises, so every day is different. You’ll be providing assurance services and professional advice, generally working in small teams of two or three. Audits can last anything from a few days to a few weeks, and while the work can be challenging, it’s an invaluable grounding for a successful accountancy career.

Our business services teams help our clients prepare year-end accounts, management accounts, forecasts and projections. You’ll be able to get involved in areas such as company and business taxation, company secretarial matters and VAT returns. Therefore you’ll gain a breadth of commercial, audit and general accountancy experience in this role.

You’ll work across a variety of sectors, experience a wide range of high-quality clients, from start-ups, AIM-listed companies and inspirational not-for-profit organisations and one thing we can guarantee is that no two days will be the same; our diverse client base brings new challenges and opportunities daily.

You’ll also be part of our trainee rotation programme which will provide you with a well-rounded training experience whilst undertaking the ACA qualification with us.

PKF Francis Clark supports hybrid working, so you will split your time between working in the office, client sites, studying for your professional exams and working from home.

Each year that you are with us, you will build upon the knowledge and experiences that you have gained and be given more responsibility as you grow and develop.

Learning and development

All of our trainee opportunities follow apprenticeship standards, which we fully fund so in addition to learning on the job with support from experienced colleagues, you’ll spend time studying via a leading professional training provider, through a mix of online and classroom-based learning.

We recognise that personal development training is essential in helping you to become a trusted business adviser, so you will receive support and learning not only for your professional qualification but also towards the skills and behaviours that are required to be a successful accountant. You will be allocated a buddy straight away and when you join us you will have a student counsellor and a line manager to ensure that you are on track with both your professional qualification and career aspirations.
