Baker Noel is a long-established family firm of Chartered accountants based just outside of Bedford; we are looking for a trainee/apprentice accountant to join our team.

This opportunity is suited for school leavers or graduates looking to work towards a professional qualification.

Internal training will be provided in all areas of accountancy. External training will be provided for an ACA or ACCA qualification to become a qualified accountant, after successful completion of a probation period.

Candidates must have at least three A-Levels (grades A-C) and GCSE English and Maths at a minimum of Grade 6 (B). You must hold documentation that gives you the right to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday daytime.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies Preparation of company and personal tax returns Bookkeeping for clients on various accounting packages Preparation of VAT returns Supporting the Directors through general office management duties Study for qualifications relevant to the business’s needs (ACA or ACCA qualification)

Essential skills for this role are:

  • Attention to detail Proficient in use of MS Office (particularly Excel and Word) Must be methodical and display excellent organisational skills. Good written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management Can work well under pressure, keep to deadlines and respond promptly to requests Good at both working as part of a team and on your own Able to drive with access to your own vehicle
