THE OPPORTUNITY

Rayner Essex is looking for Graduate ACA Trainees to join our Audit Team, in both our London and St Albans offices, with opportunities available in both September 2022 and January 2023. 

Study package: Comprehensive structured  3-year training programme including sponsored study towards the ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA qualification)

Varied practical experience: Completing both audit and accounting work, you will have the opportunity to experience a varied and interesting workload across a range of clients and sectors.  Our diverse portfolio provides the ideal training environment to develop breadth and depth of skills and knowledge.

WHO WE ARE

Rayner Essex has been established for 50 years and is a dynamic, medium-sized firm with offices in St Albans and Central London. We have 7 partners, 5 directors and around 80 staff, ranging from apprentices to highly experienced managers. We provide the full range of professional services typically provided by an established and progressive accountancy firm, including audit and accounts, management consultancy, payroll and taxation.

We aim to be the ‘go to’ firm for small and medium sized enterprises providing a truly excellent professional service that is tailored to meet clients’ needs and requirements.   Our clients range from all fields of business, industry, the professions and arts, including large corporates operating nationally and internationally, privately owned businesses of every size, partnerships, sole traders and self-employed individuals.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting in the preparation of working papers for audit files
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of a set of accounts
  • Assisting with corporation tax computations

 

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

As a graduate, you will join a three-year sponsored training programme to study towards the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification, ACA.  We work with an established training provider to maximise your ability to successfully pass your exams. 

In addition you will receive professional skills courses as we believe this training is vital to your professional development and will ensure that on qualification you have not only the technical knowledge needed but also the client and management skills required to be successful in your role. 

We will give you a balance of practical experience and structured theoretical training to allow you to quickly develop your skills and be a meaningful part of our team.  

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for graduates who are highly motivated and have a desire to learn, along with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.  We welcome applications from graduates of any degree discipline.  In order to apply your should have the following:

  • A minimum of 2.2 expected or obtained degree (any discipline welcome)
  • 120 UCAS points or above
  • GCSE Maths (or equivalent) grade 6 or above (grade B or above prior to 2017)
  • GCSE English Language (or equivalent) grade 5 or above (grade C or above prior to 2017)
