If you want to become a highly-qualified trusted business adviser without having to go to university, this could be the career path for you. We offer a full study support package in addition to the basic salary, which will be in excess of the NMW/NLW level (depending upon academic qualifications and experience), plus an additional employee benefits package.

We offer on-the-job training and an opportunity to study for professional qualifications such as membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

During your first few weeks, you will have a full induction to our firm, and training on all the systems that you will be using on a day-to-day basis. These include Office 365, TaxCalc, QuickBooks Online and Dext. You will also undergo the basic training required of all staff members. This includes our telephony protocols, how to assist visitors, (those with appointments and speculative) and how to maintain client records.

You will be mentored by a Senior Accountant who will give you direct guidance in developing your professional skills. You will learn about the preparation of financial accounts, interpretation of financial data and accounting and tax legislation. This is an extremely varied role in which you will need to have a flexible mindset and a willingness to learn and update your skillset regularly. We are a very technology-orientated firm, so our ideal candidate is someone who would enjoy engaging with new technologies in the accountancy sector and is committed to producing the high quality of data that such technologies require.

Duties will include: scanning in and uploading receipts; bookkeeping; setting up bank feeds; bank reconciliations; journal entry; trial balance preparation; regular communication with clients.

Personal qualities required: punctuality; enthusiasm; professionalism; positive approach to the workplace and to colleagues; good team player; robust attitude with an eye for detail.

Essential qualifications: Five strong GCSE or equivalent results including both Maths and English. A thorough competence in IT, particularly Excel, is also required.

Desired qualifications: Have, or expect to achieve, at least two good A level passes or equivalent.

Further information about our practice can be found on our website  We are part of a national network of accountants and business advisers originally established in 1995. The network currently has over 200 independently-owned practices across the UK and Ireland, and is growing in Canada, the USA and Australia.
