Where will they be working?
From our office

Buffery & Co Limited is a well-established, highly regarded small firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisers in Henley on Thames.  We look after a wide variety of local and not so local clients across a broad range of sectors.   We have been a training practice approved and regulated by the ICAEW for a number of years and have trained and supported a number of young people to qualified status – a number of whom have moved on to posts in industry or to larger practices.

The firm is seeking ambitious and motivated students to join us to help look after our clients needs while training for their professional qualifications.  We have a successful formula in place and as a small firm we can offer an opportunity many larger concerns cannot - access to clients from almost the beginning of your career.  This means that you will see in real terms the challenges faced by individuals and businesses at close quarters.  You will begin to understand just what it is to be working as a chartered accountant and tax adviser and the value that the profession brings to clients.

We are offering up to two spaces for school or college leavers or recent graduates to join our three/four-year ACA training programme (one starting as soon as possible and one in August 2022 (flexible start date to allow for holidays etc).

Requirements

Candidates will have achieved:

If an undergraduate to have been awarded a 2.1 or be on track to achieve a 2.1 classification.

3 A Levels (min UCAS points of 120)

GCSEs in Maths and English (minimum Grade B or 6 (new system).

Personal Attributes

We would like candidates to have the ability to communicate effectively with others (this is a small office, so we do expect willingness to become part of a team) together with a positive, helpful attitude together with a curious mind and a desire to learn.   A grasp of basic finance and commercial matters is desirable.   Candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to work in the UK.   The training programme is challenging and for that reason we prefer candidates to live within a reasonable commuting distance as these roles are office based.  We firmly believe this is by far the best way for trainees to learn (external courses excepted).
